according to the wisdom of our ancestors....
Knowledge without wisdom is like water in the sand. ~ Guinean proverb
Modern society requires the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge to be productive. Schools provide access to knowledge, for those willing to extract it.
Too often African people use the knowledge we gain in ways that end up advancing others. Our communities do not grow stronger and wealthier as a result of these pursuits.
Wisdom, revealed in the words and examples of our ancestors and elders, guides us in how to use the knowledge for the benefit of our own communities.
When we study the proverbs of our cultural elders, we mine the wealth of wisdom that makes that knowledge bear fruit.
